House Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) has introduced a bill that would move the income tax filing deadline from 15 April to the first Monday in November. Not coincidentally, the filing deadline would then fall on the day before the day general elections are held (E@lert wonders whether this would produce what must be the desired result: voters who pull the lever while mad about their tax bills).
Huh. Interesting. I would no longer have a tax "season" (kicking out the possibilities of doing camp every summer) and you think it's hard to remember what happened last year in APRIL - you just wait until you have until OCTOBER to do remember things...
I'll be keeping my eye on this one. I just googled it - there is NOTHING in public press about this. Bartlett right now is making news about ethical stem cell research...
