Lucky!!!

Well all, St. Helens is venting again. I was lucky enough to catch it on the radio on my way in from my breakfast meeting, so I ran in here and checked the volcano cam - which updates every 5 minutes(although right now they're only doing every 10 minutes), but fortunately it was a bit behind and I was able to catch the eruption! Note: this is a steam eruption only, there was little ash, so far as I've heard, just a venting.

EDIT: Pictures now behind cut, as there are more. )
EDIT: Earthquakes are continuing, they are saying that this means magma is close to the surface. Still not expecting anything large like in 1980, they say that the mountain hasn't "bulged out" which is the sign of a very large eruption. Still mostly shallow steam "clearing of the mountain's throat" and so on. They are still expecting an eruption in the next days to weeks. The weather sounds like it will turn to rain soon, and so more steam to come, probably, as the rain seeps inside and is flash steamed by the magma.

Volcano Cam, here.

So glad I was able to catch that, especially since up here we are covered in fog and I wasn't sure I would see anything. Also note that these pics are 10 minutes apart - so this isn't a very explosive one. I'm getting this and it's not even on the newswires yet.

Random updates.

1: all this volcano stuff makes me think...Charmander! (don't ask.)

2. Mariners fired Bob Melvin this morning. Didn't waste any time after their final game last night. I personally don't think it was his problem we stunk so badly, but when the ship is sinking, blame the captain, I suppose.

3. In other Mariners news, Ichiro now holds the record for hits in one season.

4. In other Mariners news, Edgar Martinez said farewell to a sold-out crowd this weekend, he is leaving the Mariners after 18 years in baseball, all right here in Seattle. (we lost both games, of course.)

5. My roommate has moved out. Not totally, but his bed is gone so he's sleeping there. The kitty is still with me, as is my roommate's food, so he'll be over every day this week, he says. His furniture is mostly all here still as well, and his tool room stuff. He'll be taking some more loads to the dump over the next few weekends til he's all out. This will leave me with 'an' endtable and a fiber-optic lamp in the living room. No TV, no furniture. My parents bought an extra living room set that my mom couldn't do without and are giving me a couch and a chair, at least (and possibly a loveseat/couch as well).

6. This also means that I need to find a roommate. I hate playing one parent against the other, and that's not really what happened in this case, but basically I had told my dad that I can't afford the entire rent of the place, and he said that if no one moved in with me for a few months, they would take my half of the rent only. My mother told me yesterday that "if he moves out, the most interesting thing is going to be you trying to get the full rent amount come november." She knows I can't afford it. I don't really know what choice they have, because if I can't afford it at my place, then I will a) move out into a really cheapo place by myself(there isn't a place like that that I can afford right now), and they wouldn't have any renter, or b) move back in with them (much more likely) and pay them almost nothing (because I get almost nothing. Just my room. I don't have any say in what I can do/how late I can be gone, you know, all that parent crap. I also then wouldn't be able to have anyone over, simply because they wouldn't fit in that mess of a house, and there is no "living" area in my room or anywhere else in the house). I do have one more option c), but that's a last resort and so I'm not even printing it here now.

7. Funniest volcano blurb of the day:
"Nearby, an artist known as "O" from Santa Monica, Calif., was working on a 4- by 5-foot painting of the mountain, using three dozen cans of bargain house paint in various tones, mostly grays, blues and olives.
O, who declined to give his age but appeared to be in his 40s, had completed much of the painting. The top part was blank, waiting for what he called "the money shot."

The money shot? Nice.

Bonney Lake, Washington State. 1/2 a duplex, shared with me. You'd have one of the 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms to share (one has the shower, the other has the laundry). You also get the storage/tool room behind the garage for whatever you need to store. One spot in the two car garage, plus there's room for 2 extra cars on the side of the house as well as 5+ spots in the front near the road. Room for a few pieces of your furniture, if you have it, in the living room. Lots of cupboard space in the kitchen and closet storage as well. Room in the garage for stuff as well.

$400 a month, due on the 1st, but if you pay by the 25th, you pay only $375 a month.

2 mins off of the closest highway, but it's really quiet here and safe. Newer house (1999-2000?) and the other 1/2 of the duplex is a 3 bd/3 bath that currently has one nice older guy living there with his dog.
Application/credit check must be passed, and my parents own the place and live 2 1/2 miles away.

Know anyone trustworthy that'd be interested?
